This port city synonymous with crystal is also Ireland’s oldest city, dating back more than 1,000 years. Waterford not only boasts the famed House of Waterford Crystal, which offers guided tours where visitors can witness crystal production and features the world’s largest collection of Waterford crystal, but Christ Church Cathedral, Ireland’s only neoclassical Georgian cathedral. Waterford also has medieval-feeling sections with narrow, winding lanes replete with pubs and shops. Reginald’s Tower, the oldest complete building in Ireland and the first to use mortar, should not be missed.
