The second largest Hawaiian island that is approximately 727 square miles is referred to as "The Valley Isle" because of its many valleys between its volcanic mountain formations. Hawaiian legend says the island is named after the son of Polynesian explorer Hawaiʻiloa, who discovered the Hawaiian islands. Maui has more than 80 beaches and its Haleakala National Park features the island's highest peak at 10,025 feet, all of which can be seen with a selection of thrilling or relaxing Maui vacation packages, offering daily Maui tours to Hana, Iao Valley, Kaanapli Beach, and numerous waterfalls and rainforests.
